Making a Weapon
When you're lost and hungry you will need to hunt for food. Without a weapon, that can be pretty hard. So, how do you hunt with no weapons? The answer is to make them. The weapon of choice could be a gun, but you don't know how to forge the metal and make the bullets. That puts us back to more primitive weapons like the bow and arrow. Wood
The wood needs to be long enough for your string to be tight and not loose. Also, the bow needs to be fairly thick, about an inch thick, and bendable. The wood will need to be able to bend backwards without breaking. Once you locate this prime piece of wood, all you have to do is cut a notch in the top and bottom ends to hold the string. Put your string in one end and tie a bowline knot. Pull the string tight so that it bends the wood. Tie the other end of the stick. |
Materials You may wonder what you can use to make a bow and arrow. It is quite easy, just look around. The branches of trees are great for bows and arrows. Pine trees and yew trees are the best, but any branch that will spring back will work. What about the string for the bow? Look down, yep right there on your feet there are shoelaces, those will work just fine. Strips of clothing, paracord, and sinew from dead animals can also serve as bow strings. Arrows Find a thin and strait branch. Clean off the bark, sharpen the tip, and make a notch in the end for the string. Attach feathers or small leaves to the end with the notch, if they are available. These help the arrow fly straighter and with more precision. |
